Job Description

The Copywriter is a key member of the creative team and an integrated content developer — someone who moves fluidly from print to digital and works comfortably in multiple formats across various platforms. Here at Godfrey, the copywriter has a massive amount of passion for the world-changing work of our industrial manufacturing clients.


The Copywriter is responsible for developing various types of content consistent with the brand strategy and tone of voice. Moreover, this role is driven to inquire, learn and absorb all the intricate details of client industries required to craft meaningful, informative and engaging conversations. Ultimately, the Copywriter is a storyteller, developing powerful content that connects with the right audiences. This person will also assist the Senior Copywriter with developing concepts, collaborating with appropriate team members and writing copy in support of client programs. The ideal candidate is able to work on multiple projects at once, often under tight deadlines.

Essential Duties

  • Create work that is smart, impactful and brand-centered
  • Transform complex concepts into solutions that communicate with real people
  • Develop creative concepts/ideas in partnership with the Art Director and the rest
    of the creative team
  • Write clear, persuasive, original copy in a variety of formats and styles for multiple audiences
  • Transform complex concepts into solutions that communicate with real people
  • Edit and proofread product and promotional copy
  • Understand clients’ products and services, the target audience and their competitors’ activities
  • Ensure consistency and adherence to client brand standards
  • Efficiently manage a large workload under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Deliver on-time, high-quality and error-free work that gets results
  • Ability to give constructive feedback on copy and visuals, as well as synthesize and act on feedback from others.
  • Communicate new, innovative marketing solutions based on a concrete understanding of the client and their industry
  • Keep up with current content and B2B marketing trends
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative culture


Education, Experience, and Capabilities  

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or English preferred
  • 3-5 years writing content, agency experience preferred
  • Business-to-business experience preferred
  • Marketing and digital writing and editing skills
  • Awareness of content strategy, content marketing, web markup language, and search marketing practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with content management systems (CMS)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting demanding deadlines and producing high-quality work
