Creative Director


Job Description

The Creative Director is the face of creative at the account level. They are a role model and key leaders on their assigned accounts, part of the Core Team we rely on. Our creative directors are expected to lead the development and presentation of campaign concepts and key creative executions. They are also expected to immerse in their client’s business, technology, products and markets, and to truly “own” the account and the work produced by the creative team. Working in collaboration with rest of the Core Team, creative directors are accountable for creative output and actively managing the creative team and creative processes. They are responsible for unification and brand consistency on their accounts. They will work with executive creative directors and manage associate creative directors and work within Godfrey’s creative and concepting methodology to help push account creative and ensure effective concepts are developed and sustained through execution.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure work is smart, impactful and brand-centered
  • Transform complex concepts into solutions that communicate with real people
  • Provide creative leadership and actively manage the creative team to ensure strong creative
  • Deliver strategic communication solutions that help our clients meet their marketing and communications objectives
  • Collaborate and contribute to the creative process as a leader of a creative team, and as a member of their assigned account teams
  • Work with executive creative directors on high-level concept development and execution
  • Actively manage and mentor associate creative directors
  • Direct the creative function so that the environment, culture, team, capabilities, tools, processes, expectations and other elements support the strategic goals
  • Ensure that the creative function operates in an efficient, profitable manner
  • Maintain consistently high standards for him/herself and others on the team
  • Write and present cohesive and persuasive rationales for campaign approaches
  • Ensure that art and copy work in close collaboration together
  • Deliver on-time, high-quality and error-free work that gets results
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative culture


Education, Experience, and Capabilities        

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field preferred
  • Experience level desired: 10+ years (at least 2 in B2B preferred)
  • Agency experience: Mandatory
  • Superior leadership, collaboration, and presentation skills
  • Superior problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellence in managing/supervising, and motivating staff
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills, planning, time management, and follow-through skills
  • Superior understanding of marketing principles, marcom strategies, and tactics
  • Demonstrated talent for creative concepting
  • Strong digital and content strategy, content marketing background
  • Ability to judge creative concepts, art and copy, and clearly communicate creative direction
