Director of Real Estate Development

Community Basics, Inc. Lancaster, PA

 

Nonprofit housing developer Community Basics, Inc. (CBI) is seeking an experienced Director of Real Estate Development. CBI addresses the need for affordable housing by partnering with federal, state and local organizations to build and maintain rental communities for moderate-income individuals throughout Central Pennsylvania.

 

Role Description:

  • Reports to and assists the executive director with new housing and community development projects through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program and the use of other special housing programs.
  • Locates potential new projects and develops strategies to obtain project financing, including preparation of funding applications.
  • Works with a variety of professionals in the development process including architects, general contractors, planning consultants, market analysts, environmental consultants and other third party contractors.
  • Coordinates local municipal planning approvals and communicates with community groups, government officials and neighboring residents prior to construction.
  • Attends job meetings to manage issues during construction.
  • Advises the executive director on post-construction building management issues.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working within low-income housing tax credit real estate, as well as real estate development and construction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A four-year degree and minimum 7 years industry experience in real estate development, building design and land planning.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office and online research.
  • A current and valid drivers license.

  • Hard work and honest feedback among team members is the norm.
  • This person is expected to direct their own work and those of the team without significant oversight.
  • Intermittent travel required; majority of the workweek will be spent at the headquarters location.
